Yep, definitely! They could feasibly call upon 4, just without having the boon or gift from them (Or fall short of candidacy somewhere else). But either way, two, yup.

It's a "boon" granted by an otherworldly force (undocumented because I have no clue what it could be) that generally picked two people to champion each world, with the idea that it'd be inevitable that both end up destroying each other. She just picked a third option (which is grab both and live with the consequences).

Is it possible that denizens from the realms themselves interfere with the prime plane?

Yup, some of them do, where they can, usually through human confederates, hosts or avatars.

Thought so. Welp, thanks for the answers. I should have enough to really get going and write a good background, most likely to scrub all knowledge of the mystic world as she wouldn't have access to this.

Which, knowing what I know of the character, is fucking terrifying.

I wouldn't say it's ever necessary to scrub all knowledge, someone within the heroing community could know more than the average joe.

You could also just ignore such things, and roll with whatever you feel is right for the character.

one idea is since most people know diddily poop about magic its best to assume that even some reknown magic users know nothing maybe even coming up with there own theories and conjecture i can see even seasoned mages being ignorant of it some might even agree with the rest of the world on there magical skills believing there spell phrases to be purely psychological triggers that for some reason can't be accessed any other way
