I'm okay with transferring my own things although I don't currently have backups.

As for templates I'm just going to do what I did last time and steal them from Anubis and Pallas. /shameless

Could the page edit be reopened so we could grab the template codes, say for the hero boxes, price boxes, etc., and to make backups?

I'm assuming templates would be pretty-easy to simply remake and transfer the code to the corresponding page. I'm not sure what the permissions are like on the various boxes.

No problem here, especially since I'm actually working on the pages in WORD and just copy the parts into the wiki ;)
So I already have most of it ready.

Concerning this: you can still go to the edit page to see the code and everything, the only thing we're blocked from doing right now is saving edits.

The problem is that some templates won't be available until someone puts them in the new wiki - or so I believe.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem/work imo.

I have a good amount of space still on my hosting account and just cleared off about 5 domains I owned. All my sites, except for my travel photographs, are relatively small.

It looks as if Primus is using Mediawiki. My hosting (yes, its the evil GoDaddy) can install that directly. The secondary files and the database are another thing.

What sort of size requirements are used for the Primus Database? Database size/file storage is what I'm asking about if you can find out. Mediawiki usually uses mySQL or mySQLi. That way I can see if what I have would work or not for you.

If you have stats on the bandwidth usage as well, I could use those too to help gauge if this is a viable option.

If you can't tell, yes, I'm an ex-sysadmin who used to manage 100s of websites. Mediawiki was one of the products I used a lot.

Space is only really an issue in terms of the transfer, the MySQL database is around 2gb (with about 1.5gb of that the text table). The webspace taken by the images and is around 8gb, but PDB's old and new hosting offer unlimited webspace.

The problem is the CPU/RAM usage, the shared sever I was using didn't have enough power to run the wiki properly.

I have included the bandwidth usage below just for general viewing:

Month Unique visitors Number of visits Pages Hits Bandwidth
Jan 2013 7,985 22,845 328,699 696,891 17.51 GB
Feb 2013 7,167 20,533 306,825 701,047 15.11 GB
Mar 2013 9,016 23,376 349,208 856,113 20.89 GB
Apr 2013 9,138 25,500 415,272 1,083,909 22.26 GB
May 2013 6,679 16,651 235,517 655,797 15.05 GB

In all honesty PDB should be fine on the new server but if not it'll require a VPS or dedicated server.

Just to ease everyone's mind, moving the templates is just as easy as copying and pasting the pages.

Ok the wiki is on the new server, currently in the process of re-pointing the domain.

In the meantime the old wiki is available here: http://www.mediumsizedrobot.com/primusdatabase.com/index.php

The new wiki is here: http://mediumsizedrobot.get-sourced.com/pdb/index.php

Thank you for your patience in this matter and let me know if you have any issues.

Try now, you won't be able to use the domain for either site, you'll need to use the previous links.

Still getting a 404 error when clicking your old database link for some reason.

Also will we need to sign up again or will the old logins still work?

Try and clear your cache to see if that resolves the issue.

Unfortunately everyone will have to sign up again as I haven't been able to transfer the wiki data across.

Got it! Thanks! I just couldn't get there from my phone.

Also when posting external links in code while editing, I get the cat/dog security bot. After selecting all of the cats and hitting save page, the page doesn't save and stays on the edit screen.

I checked to see if the page did indeed save, but it did not. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround?

Ah, that happened before when I installed the security information.

I've changed that setting now, should work fine. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for all your continued monitoring and help on this, u4dandy. Now to make an account again and move stuff over.

Thankfully I only have the one character. :D

Everything seems good, with the exception of the new file upload size limit. Seems that uploading some art commissions is pretty much impossible for the time being.

Yeah unfortunately the new host has the maximum file size for PHP to be 2Mb currently. I'm gonna try and figure a way round this, but for the time being it might mean that larger files are hosted on an alternative site such as imageshack or the like.

It keeps saying I am not providing a confirmation code when I try to sign up... though its not even sending one out to my email address.

In the meantime, if anyone wants to cut and paste my characters over, please feel free LOL.
