Hello all,

After all the hassle, we're finally starting the next CORP Art Project!

Currently we have 18 characters in it with the deadline having already passed.

I will be using this thread to post updates and archive videos. Once the piece is done, we'll have an online timelapse video of the piece!

The first day is today, we'll be starting at 9PM (EST) on Twitch! You can watch it live right here

For the next 2 weeks I'll be streaming square on 9PM EST, during the weekdays!

UPDATE 1-) Layout Mockup, done with photoshopped images of photographed statues, action figures that help with the flow of the image and composition, akin to the type of image people voted for. This is meant to be seen only as -representative- placement, rather than direct references, but poses and the-like, will be similar to what you are seeing here.

Some can probably tell their character's placement already, but after today that'll be a lot more apparent!

Keep an eye out!

UPDATE 2 - Yesterday we've done the rough sketch, which took a couple of hours (yes, for the rough sketch, full piece will take around 18 hours to finish)

Here's the archived Stream you can watch through Twitch.

And here's the rough sketch where you can see the character placements. Due to composition, we had to make some sacrifices (The further back you are, more full body you get while the ones closer to the camera sacrifice some parts of their bodies!)

If anybody is really uncomfortable with placement, you can let me know and I'll try to find a solution for all of us, but it is a good compromise overall, just like many comic book covers.

Included in the pic are: (From top row to bottom row)

  1. Valor
  2. Soulstar
  3. Artifist
  4. Windcaller
  5. Atomac
  6. Peacemaker
  7. Raygun
  8. Khaldun
  9. Azunai
  10. Lycan
  11. Razyar
  12. Matrix
  13. Bugg
  14. Imp
  15. Kid Ballistic
  16. Thundrax
  17. Cosmic Glory
  18. Captain Adamant

Couple things that'll change -

  • Bugg's position and pose since he looks a little out of place there behind Captain Adamant.
  • Scaling adjustments for characters.
  • Pose Adjustments

Next we do a lighting test and then get to painting these folks!

Feel free to send a PM about your questions, feedback and concerns!

When I die, I'd like to go as my grandfather did, peacefully in my sleep. Not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

UPDATE 3-) Here is the updated pic with the underpaint.

What this means is that the next stage we start the actual painting process. Mind you, this is not only coloring, but more so when the real details are going to be coming into picture!

Couple things that will change:

  • Perspective fixes for a couple characters!
  • Scaling and position adjustments.
  • Overpaint where we'll be adding more details.
  • FX!

This is absolutely mind-boggling-ly outstanding, aka what else could you expect, really.
"The world,' said he, pursuing this train of thought, 'ridicules a passion which it seldom feels; its scenes, and its interests, distract the mind, deprave the taste, corrupt the heart, and love cannot exist in a heart that has lost the meek dignity of innocence. Virtue and taste are nearly the same, for virtue is little more than active taste, and the most delicate affections of each combine in real love."

This is from last week actually, right now we're already way in to the overpaint, but I'll give an update of that when it's a little bit more complete!

Here's some colors!

What's Left:

  1. Effects!
  2. Painting
  3. Positional Adjustments!
  4. Painting
  5. A couple perspective fixes
  6. And more Painting

*claps hands* Voilah!

And here's the highres link!

Was quite a lot of fun working on this piece, lasted a little over 26 hours of drawing (Initially perceived 18 hours, but it was a lot longer than that..)

Will be doing a timelapse video of it soon (will post the link in this thread) for those who couldn't see it in the past month on Twitch!

Oh man I love this. It's got classy, punchy poses, and the paint job itself is a lovely, unique take on real-izing the characters. Looks like it would be a great collectible issue or poster!
