What are your impressions of it? Are you enjoying it? Where do you think it's leading?

FWIW I'm very disappointed they went the magic route again. Players who know the Champions Universe only from CO are getting a seriously distorted view of what it really is. 😕

Hi Liaden.
Was looking forward to new content- but I confess, an a little disappointed. We grouped for the first part- walked in to find 6 mooks in the corner- found the mcguffin then ran back and forth across town. Why does Mustard suit woman need help? she should have been able to handle 6 mooks. Just sayin.

got distracted with the STO summer event [ space surfboards, I can listen to 60s surf rock without the roomies complaining!] and haven't tried the second bit yet.

:)

It's so-so to me so far. I'm interested in the mystery villain for the most part and I'm kinda secretly hoping it's profressor paradigm for no real reason.

Imo whether it ends up "good" or not is entirely based around the ending.

Part 3 is up, and it let me take it again while I had one to turn in. Probably a glitch? I was doing them out of order. It's longer then the others, and rather straightforward, all your base is belong to us. The boss fight I didn't mind, it was interesting, and the cryptic cut scene is cute.

SPOILERS:
The end villain is named for a genus of sea-snakes. The game forums seem to think the mastermind of part 4 will be Shadow D, I'm kind of hoping its... Zoran the artificer. Just cause he's awesome. :P

OH! and I just noticed-the mission cobra lords have slightly different looks then the ones in town, and they -don't- count to your kill count perk. Did get one of the brass knucks as a drop- but I don't know if those are from ALL the cobra lords, or just the mission ones.

Just finished part 4. SPOILERS WOOOO

I cant find any references to the boss that escapes, Graknash online. Is he from a PNP book?

The moon outside doesn't have the tailor on the roof, the radio arrays are arranged differently then the "landing strip" in my base, and they don't have the viper boxes. Also outside is a 50s looking space ship with a display, mine doesn't have that. is it significant?
One of the rooms gives you a pressure suit when its over, including the still- broken floating helmet.

Other then that they get stuck in the walls super easy, hopefully that gets patched- but i've got stuck inside my own walls so. just run back and forth down the halls until they pop out, it takes a while but you eventually get them all.

I'm STILL hoping for Zoran the artificer, and not Purple D. I DID like the lemurian built rum-running tunnels under Detroit-winsor. That amused me. :D

Thank you very much for the input, Snookums.

Graknash is almost certainly an original Cryptic creation, with no PnP precedent I'm aware of.

I'm... of two minds, really?

Having just finished the current installment so being up to date...

* It's nice to see story-based content again, even if the plot itself is currently.. kinda meh at best?
* It's not an over-tuned, grindy, miserable slog, which I thought was all the game could put out any longer. Pleasantly surprised there - again, it may not be very exciting but at least it's not aggressively un-fun like the vast majority of the content since we left CN has been.
* Good production values, if nothing else.
* Yeah, more magic again... at least it's not the Q (so far *raps knuckles on table). I like my superheroes mystical as folks know, but while I'm not bugged to the point you are I'm starting to agree with you about magic fatigue, Liaden.
* That said, the Lemurians, really? We're a bit late for Aquaman tie-ins, and Lemurians shapeshifting aside, they're no Skrulls, either - especially when we could have had the Roin'esh instead.
* Is this some setup for Tyranon to emerge and end the age of heroes (and thus, Champions Online?) That was my first assumption with all the magic involved...
* "This is the strangest thing I've ever done!" What, you've never fought underwater lizardfolk sorcerers in a multinational agency's moonbase alongside a chemically-reanimated super-zombie, before?
* Seriously, the burrowing-up tunnelers popping out of the surface of the moon from the underwater race living on Earth is just... yeah, bizarre and dumb-looking.

Still though, its story content and not miserable to play through, and there's some thought given to making the rewards interesting. Solid B+, so far.

I went to play the fixed version last night on one of the two characters I've been running it on, and the door-crater wasn't lit, even though I had the mission. Mildly irksome, we'll see if its still bugged tonight.

I liked that they animated one of the drills, it's kinda badass looking. I want to drill through superheros with that now. Though I was wondering how a drill on the moon wasn't.... sucking everything into vacume, it cant be -that- form fitting in the tunnel it made right?

I have to say, if there's a metaplot to this story line, I'm having trouble seeing what it could be. Like Lemurians on the Moon, this feels like a grab-bag of stuff just thrown together without a clear logical through-line to give it coherence. I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised, though, if it all turns out to make sense in the end.

well some of the old serials for early movies and radio programs did have that "whaaat?" jumbled aspect to them, our hero on the jungle moon, fighting the evil forces of the mysterious overlord of Crystal fish palace.... two episodes ago we were making a daring escape off the orient express before it reached Constantinople...
